What are the different types of orthodontic treatment we offer at Thurmaston Dental Practice?
At Thurmaston Dental practice, we offer 2 different types...
1. FIXED BRACES
These are a fixed appliance, it is efficient and helps move teeth faster.
Best appliance for complex cases!
There are 2 different types, METAL and CERAMIC- the only difference between the two is that the ceramic is more aesthetically pleasing as it’s tooth coloured. However, both are very functional when aligning the teeth.
Need to avoid hard and chewy foods to prevent brackets falling off and good oral hygiene must be maintained before, during and after treatment.
2. INVISALIGN
Removable braces which are clear, which can be good aesthetically and is discreet.
Aligners must be worn at least 22 hours a day- can be removed when eating to allow you to enjoy your favourite food without worrying about brackets falling off. If the aligners are not worn for at least 22 hours, there could be a delay on achieving best results.
Teeth can be brushed as normal, must avoid drinking fizzy and sugary drinks whilst aligners are in as this can cause erosion.
Compared to fixed braces the process is longer when wanting to achieve a better and straighter smile.
