Single Tooth Dental Implants

inner banner

A complete replacement for a missing tooth, comprising an implant and a permanent crown.

Why replace a missing tooth?

At Thurmaston Dental, Facial, & Implants, we advise patients to replace a missing tooth as soon as possible.

Dental implants are an important part of our practice. Dr Zahir Kaderbhai receives referrals for his implant work from across the Midlands and sometimes even further afield.

Replacing a tooth with an implant can be a great solution to reduce the risks of dental health issues in addition to:

  • Reducing stress on existing teeth when eating
  • Preventing adjacent teeth moving into the gap
  • Improving dental hygiene
  • Enhancing your appearance

What is a single tooth dental implant?

A single tooth implant procedure consists of a titanium implant that is permanently fixed into your jawbone.

The new implant then acts as a replacement tooth root. After the treatment, the implant gradually fuses with the jawbone and becomes permanent support for a dental crown. A single tooth implant looks, functions and feels like a natural tooth.

What is the treatment procedure for a dental implant?

Dental implants are a proven and effective treatment to permanently replace missing teeth.  During your dental examination, your dentist will take X-rays and scans of your mouth and teeth. We will also review your medical history to establish if a dental implant is right for you. The health and integrity of your jawbone generally determine the suitability of implant treatment.

During the treatment, a local anaesthetic is administered to numb the area to be treated, making the treatment as comfortable as possible. An incision is made in the gum to expose a small section of bone, to which our dentist will then permanently fix the insert. A temporary crown is usually then fitted onto the insert.

What happens after an implant?

Following a dental implant procedure, some patients may feel some temporary soreness, swelling or sensitivity for a few days. We advise patients to avoid chewing or eating hard food for around two weeks after the treatment.

Over the course of the next few months, the implant normally starts to fuse with the jawbone. The fusion of the implant into the bone ensures optimal stability and longevity of the insert.

When the insert is solidified, a dental crown is custom-made to match your existing natural teeth in shape and appearance. The crown is then permanently bonded to the top of the dental insert for a long-lasting, seamless and healthy smile.

A single tooth implant is the gold-standard dental solution to replace missing teeth.
