Teeth Whitening

inner banner

For work or pleasure, teeth-whitening is an effective and convenient way to a beautiful smile.

What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is a popular cosmetic dental treatment that lightens the natural colour of your teeth and removes discolouration, resulting in a sparkling smile.

The colour of the teeth naturally darkens over time. Lifestyle choices and diet such as drinking coffee, tea and red wine, eating coloured foods and smoking can also discolour teeth. Some medications and poor oral hygiene can also leave teeth yellow, stained or discoloured.

Lighter teeth can give you a healthy smile, enhancing your appearance and boosting your self-confidence.

What treatments are available for teeth whitening?

At Thurmaston Dental, Facial, & Implants, we offer a number of teeth whitening treatments which include:

Home-based teeth whitening – a convenient way to lighten your teeth at home. Custom-made dental trays are worn over your teeth worn for a few hours a day or overnight.

In-Chair Power Bleaching  – a reliable, in-practice cosmetic whitening treatment to lighten your teeth in around an hour, with a home whitening top-up.

Enlighten Evolution™ – a combined home and in-practice treatment giving patients great results with teeth up to 16 shades brighter.

Is teeth whitening right for me?

For professional or personal reasons, teeth whitening can be a great way to a winning smile. Your dentist will advise you on the whitening options that are right for you during your consultation.

Whitening has no effect on dental restorations such as filling, crowns or implants. Staining caused by tartar and staining on cracked teeth may also be unaffected by whitening. Teeth-whitening should only ever be prescribed and carried out by a dentist. You must also be over 18 and have healthy teeth and gums to benefit from a whitening treatment.

How long does the effect last?

The brightness and colour of teeth-whitening depend on the length of the treatment and your individual teeth. The effects of whitening typically last several months.

Tea, coffee and red wine, as well as eating coloured food and smoking, can also affect the intensity and duration of teeth-whitening.
